The Grand Circle Tour... Cade's Cove

You would think that the last thing I would want to do is to drive for a vacation trip. I decided to take a tour of my family and make a big circle through Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa before heading back to Wichita.
The first stop was Knoxville, Tennessee to visit Kathy and Charlie. The weather was perfect for early fall so we decided to go to The Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
Cade's Cove is an area of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park that was a settlement from the late 1700's, with residents still there in the 1950's. There are several farmsteads, churches, a grist mill and blacksmith shop.
The tour is on a single lane road that runs for about 11 miles. With traffic during the fall season, it takes about 2.5 hours to make the loop, without stopping to take pictures and visit every site.
It was a perfect fall day for the trip.
