Sunny Saturday...

After the ice storm and the frigid temps this week, the sun is smiling on Wichita and the temperature is near 70 degrees. I just love that about Wichita, the difference between a cold snowy spell and warm weather can be a couple days. I really believe this part of the state is one of the best kept secrets in the country.

After a trip to the camera store to get a case for my new Nikon, I went to find a night table for our room. At Robin's direction, I went to a little second hand store that we have discovered lately and picked one out. As it turned out, it was not what she had in mind, but it was only $19. It will look great in the guest room.

Anyway... just down the road from the second hand shop is Oak Park. It's a pretty little city park with lots of older trees and a lagoon. There is a disk golf course in the park, so it is always busy on nice days.

About two years ago, the city spent a lot of our tax dollars to fix up the lagoon and the creek that feeds it. The water is diverted out of the Arkansas (we pronounce it "are Kansas") river. It flows under the road and out of the hillside in a small waterfall, through some grasses, under a stone archway, down the creek and into the lagoon, which empties back to the river.

An unexpected visitor heading for the bridge.
